Distribution: South bank of River Doce, Espírito Santo southward to Teresopolis, Rio de Janeiro ( SE Brazil).
Discussion: Recognized as a subspecies of iheringi by Moojen (1948) and Pessôa and Reis (1996). Lara and Patton (2000) elevated gratiosus to a species, retained bonafidei as a subspecies of gratiosus , and suggested that panema was not morphologically distinct from gratiosus . Karyotype has 2n=56 and FN=108 (Pessôa and Reis, 1996).
