Macrostemum ramosum (Navás 1916) nomen dubium

Macronema tuberosum Ulm. var. ramosa Navás 1916: 28 [type locality: Brazil, Nueva Friburgo; type depository unknown (“collection Navás, now lost?”, Flint et al. 1999); sex unknown].

The type of this species was not available for study and specimens were not examined. The information for this species is from Navás (1916).

Synopsis. Adults. Forewings with dark and hyaline pattern colors, extremely variable; three longitudinal patches at base of each forewing with less variable pattern.

Material examined. None.

Remarks. The diagnosis provided in the original description is not sufficient to distinguish this species from those presently known in Macrostemum .
