Colon Herbst, 1797: 224 (as Kolon , designated an incorrect original spelling and corrected to Colon by ICZN (1995)). Type species: Kolon viennensis Herbst, 1797 (designated by Thomson 1859: 60; Myloechus brunneus Latreille, 1806 designated by Shuckard 1839: 158 (not originally included)).
North American Taxonomy. Peck and Stephan (1996).
Biology. The larvae are unknown. Adults and larvae are suspected of feeding on subterranean fungi, but no records are known.
Distribution. Worldwide, few in the tropics (149 species).
