Small shrubs with densely crowded, needle-like leaves. Flowers solitary, subtended by 2 navicular bracteoles; perianth lobes 5, free almost to base, Wingless, the 2 outer dentate at apex; stamens 5, alternating with 5 dentate disk lobes; anthers with slender appendages. Fruit somewhat fleshy, enclosed in the saccately inflated perianth. Three spp., USSR.
