Antepipona de Saussure 1855: 244 View in CoL , name for section C of division V of subgenus Leionotus de Saussure View in CoL of genus Odynerus Latreille in de Saussure 1853: 213 View in CoL (4 species). Type species: Odynerus silaos de Saussure, 1853 , by subsequent designation ( van der Vecht 1967: 30). Senior subjective synonym of Odontodynerus Blüthgen, 1938 View in CoL , Dichodynerus Blüthgen, 1938 , Metastenancistrocerus Blüthgen, 1938 and Mehelyella Bohart, 1951 , according to Blüthgen 1939: 246, and van der Vecht 1970: 17.

Diagnosis. Mandibles distinctly cross each other. Clypeus wider than long, emarginate or weakly truncate apically ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Female with two cephalic foveae present in depression. Vertex sloping behind ocelli. Pronotal carina incomplete, weak dorsally. Pretegular carina present. Epicnemial carina present. Tegula usually longer than wide, emarginate on inner margin posteriorly, usually reaching or surpassing apex of parategula ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 31 – 36 ). Metanotum without dorsal surface, laterally with short spines (usually bidentate) behind scutellum ( Fig. 48 View FIGURES 48 – 54. 48 ). Scutum and scutellum punctate. Axillary fossa wide. Propodeum present below metanotum. Propodeal orifice wide dorsally. Propodeum with superior carinae absent. Submarginal carina produced into pointed lamella apically and valvula free posteriorly from submarginal carina. Metasoma sessile, T1 with width more than half that of T2, much less than twice as long as wide ( Fig. 82 View FIGURES 79 – 85 ). T1 without carina. T2 without distinct lamella ( Fig. 82 View FIGURES 79 – 85 ). SMC2 basally acute. Prestigma shorter than pterostigma. Mid tibia with one apical spur. Ƌ: F11 hook like; F10, F11 short; a groove present on inner margin of F8, F9. Body length usually less than 12 mm.
