Knemodynerus Blüthgen 1940: 43 View in CoL , subgenus of " Euodynerus Blüthgen View in CoL " [= Euodynerus Dalla Torre View in CoL ]. Type species: Odynerus (Lionotus) excellens Pérez, 1907 View in CoL , by original designation. Treated as a genus by Carpenter 1986: 73.

Diagnosis. Mandibles longer than length of clypeus, distinctly cross each other. Clypeus as wide as long, smooth, usually apically truncate, sometimes weakly emarginate. Female with cephalic fovea. Vertex not sloping behind ocelli. Pronotal anterior face smooth and shiny without median foveae. Pronotal carina developed. Epicnemial carina present. Pretegular carina well developed. Tegula longer than wide, posterior inner margin emarginate. Parategulae not visible from dorsal view ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 36 ). Axillary fossa narrow ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31 – 36 ). Metanotum depressed medially with vertical posterior margin. Propodeal dorsum below plane of metanotum. Superior carina usually well developed, in some species not so prominent. Submarginal carina not extended posteriorly as pointed/rounded process, propodeal valvula not free from submarginal carina posteriorly. Propodeal orifice wide dorsally. Metasoma sessile, T1 as wide as T2, wider than long and without transverse carina. T1 with transparent lamellae apically. Mid tibia with one apical spur. SMC2 basally acute, prestigma shorter than pterostigma. ♂: F11 hook like, rounded apically; F10 short; no cavity on inner margin of segments. Body length usually less than 15 mm.

Distribution. Ethiopian, Oriental, Australian and Palearctic Regions.
