Belisana protumida View in CoL spec. nov.

Figs 1–16 View FIGURES 1 – 4 View FIGURES 5 – 11 View FIGURES 12 – 16

Type material. MALAYSIA: Peninsular Malaysia: holotype male, Taman Negara, 4°42′N, 102°28′E, shrubs, date and collector unknown ( SMF). Paratypes: 1 male, 1 female, same data as holotype ( SMF).

Etymology. The specific name is derived from the Latin protumidus (meaning protuberant), in reference to the small slender apophysis on the pedipalpal trochanter; adjective.

Diagnosis. Belisana protumida spec. nov. resembles B. martensi Yao & Li, 2013 (see Yao & Li 2013, figs 16–18, 41) in the shape of the membranous distal apophyses of the procursus, but can be distinguished by the absence of brown lateral margins on the dorsal shield of prosoma ( Figs 9–10 View FIGURES 5 – 11 ); by the angular proximo-lateral apophyses and the relatively short distance between the tips of the distal apophyses on the male chelicerae ( Figs 8 View FIGURES 5 – 11 , 14 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ; proximo-lateral apophyses thumb-shaped and inter-distance between distal apophyses larger in B. martensi ); by the presence of a small slender apophysis on the pedipalpal trochanter ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ; apophyses absent in B. martensi ); and by the absence of stick-shaped apophyses on the procursus ( Figs 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ; stick-shaped apophysis present in B. martensi ). This species also resembles B. bohorok Huber, 2005 (see Huber 2005a, figs 395–398, 403–410) and B. kaharian Huber, 2005 (see Huber 2005a, figs 399–402, 411–416) in having similarly shaped male chelicerae and narrow vulval pore plates, but can be distinguished by the absence of sclerites on the distal procursus ( Figs 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ; flat sclerite present in B. bohorok and B. kaharian ).

Description. Male (holotype): Total length 1.28 (1.36 with clypeus), prosoma 0.53 long, 0.58 wide, opisthosoma 0.75 long, 0.45 wide. Leg I missing, leg II: – (2.28 + 0.22 + 1.97 + 2.97 + –), leg III: 5.11 (1.50 + 0.19 + 1.17 + 1.70 + 0.55), leg IV: 7.66 (2.25 + 0.21 + 1.88 + 2.63 + 0.69). Habitus as in Fig. 9 View FIGURES 5 – 11 . Dorsal shield of prosoma and sternum yellowish, without marks. Legs yellowish, without darker rings. Opisthosoma yellowish, without spots. Distance PME-PME 0.16, diameter PME 0.08, distance PME-ALE 0.02, AME absent. Ocular area not elevated. Thoracic furrow absent. Sternum about as wide as long (0.43). Chelicerae as in Figs 8 View FIGURES 5 – 11 , 14 View FIGURES 12 – 16 , with a pair of angular proximo-lateral apophyses and a pair of cone-shaped distal apophyses (distance between tips of distal apophyses: 0.03). Pedipalp as in Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ; trochanter with a short retro-ventral apophysis provided with a small slender apophysis (arrow in Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 4 , 12–13 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ); femur with a dorsal apophysis; procursus simple proximally but complex distally, with a bent spine prolaterally and a membranous flap retrolaterally; bulb with a hooked apophysis and a simple embolus. Legs II, III and IV with short vertical hairs on metatarsi, without spines and curved hairs.

Variation: Total length in another male: 1.50 (1.61 with clypeus); leg I missing.

Female: Similar to male, habitus as in Figs 10–11 View FIGURES 5 – 11 . Total length 1.52 (1.58 with clypeus), prosoma 0.55 long, 0.61 wide, opisthosoma 0.97 long, 0.47 wide; tibia I: 3.44; tibia I L/d: 55. Distance PME-PME 0.13, diameter PME 0.08, distance PME-ALE 0.01, AME absent. Epigyne ( Figs 5 View FIGURES 5 – 11 , 15 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ) simple and flat externally, with a pair of pockets 0.02 apart. Vulva ( Figs 6 View FIGURES 5 – 11 , 16 View FIGURES 12 – 16 ) with a ridge-shaped arch anteriorly and a pair of long, narrow pore plates. Retrolateral trichobothrium of tibia I at 11% of length; tarsus I missing.

Distribution. Known only from the type locality ( Fig. 57 View FIGURE 57 ).
