Figs. 438, 482, map 1.

Holotype (female): Papua New Guinea: New Guinea, NE, Western Highlands, Baiyer Range [5° 9' S, 144° 9' E], 1150 m, 19.X.1958, J.L. Gressitt, depository: Bernice P. Bishop Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA ( BPBM). GoogleMaps

Diagnosis. The new species is characterised by the unique shape of the female subgenital plate, which has a wide and deep median furrow, on each side a large baso-lateral groove seen in lateral view only; the elevated areas give in ventral view the impression of wide half-rings with short, acutely projecting latero-dorsal angle ( Figs. 438, 482). Differences to other species are outlined in the key.

Description. Fastigium verticis in front of eyes 0.9 mm, from base 1.4 mm; dorsal eye length 1.4 mm; greatest diameter of eye 1.6 mm; index fastigium verticis from base: eye length 1.0. Face rugose but shining. Tegmen surpassing apices of hind femora; gradually narrowed behind basal widening. Femora with the following number of spines on ventral margins: fore femur 6–8 external, 5–6 internal; mid femur 6 external, 2–3 internal near base; hind femur 9 external, 3 minute internal near base.

Male unknown.

Female. Tenth abdominal tergite furrowed in midline. Epiproct triangular with apex obtuse; surface depressed. Subgenital plate divided in midline by a wide membranous area; resulting lateral plates with very deep groove in basal half; apical half with convex margins; very apical area acute ( Figs. 438, 482).

Coloration. Brown. Face with black band between eyes including scapus; with another black band along clypeo-frontal suture extended on genae; both connected by a vertical black band. Tegmen with pattern of dark cells and light veinlets distinct in lateral but not in dorsal area.

Measurements of female: body 25; pronotum 7; tegmen 26.5; hind femur 18; ovipositor 17.5 mm.

Etymology. Named for the divided female subgenital plate.
