Panorpa immaculata Esben-Petersen 1915: 225 View in CoL (description); Esben-Petersen 1921: 72 (description), fig 77 (♂ wings), fig 78 (lateral view ♂ abdominal segments), fig 79 (♂ genital bulb); Byers 1954: 497 (absence of wing markings); Byers 1958: 220 (new record from State of México); Byers 1962a: 470 (confirmed syntypes present in NHMUK, designated lectotype); Bicha 2006: 24 (review of the 12 species of Panorpa View in CoL in México), fig 5 (♂ hypovalve); Byers 2011: 5 fig 12 (genital bulb of ♂ lectotype). No figures of ♀ found.
Lectotype ♂: NHMUK [ NHMUK015105144 About NHMUK ]. Similar to that reported by Byers (1962a) its labels are as follows: white on blue circular “ LECTOTYPE ”, “Omilteme, Guerrero, 8000 ft., July, H. H. Smith ”, “ Panorpa immaculata ♂ Esben Petersen View in CoL ”, “Type” on a brown strip, white rectangular “Godman-Salvin collection 1913- 214” and a rectangular red Lectotype label placed by G.W. Byers in 1961.
Paralectotype: NHMUK (1♀) .
In MCZC, there is a male specimen labelled #11885, Syntype, Omilteme , Guerrero, México, 8000 ft., July, H.H. Smith .
