Distribution: Southern PQ to southern FL to eastern TX to MN. Kentucky records are scattered throughout the eastern three quarters of the state (Map 184).

Larval host plants: Betula , Fagus , Ulmus , Viburnum and Vitis ( Bousquet et al. 2017) and Fagus and Quercus ( Chemsak 2005)

Adult flower hosts: Callicarpa , Castanea , Ceanothus , Celtis , Daucus , Hydrangea, Itea , Magnolia, Passiflora , Rhus , Rosa , Smilacina , Spiraea and Viburnum ( Chemsak 2005) and Asclepias syriaca and Tragopogon ( Lingafelter 2007)

Comments: A diurnal species most often collected from flowers. Also attracted to fermenting sugar.
