Neoclytus jouteli Davis, 1904 View in CoL View at ENA ; Clytini [new state record]

Distribution: NJ to FL to TX to KS. Kentucky specimens of this uncommonly collected species are from the central part of the state (Map 116).

Kentucky counties: Campbell (3), Madison (1)

Years: 2013 (1), 2021 (3)

Months: July (2), August (2)

Collections (4 records, 4 specimens): EGCCRC (1), XEUC (2), iNat (1)

Collection methods: panel trap baited with Ray lab blend (2); tree fogging (1)

Larval host plants: Carya and Quercus spp. ( Monné & Nearns 2022c)

Chemical lures: Ray et al. (2015) noted that while adults were collected with syn -2,3-hexanediol, this volatile, a component of the Ray lab lure blend, was not isolated from living specimens.

Comments: Generally considered to be uncommonly collected. From its distribution on the SCAN database, this species seems to be most commonly collected in the western part of its range (KS and TX), but not much is in the literature about collecting methods.
