Distribution: SC to FL to TX. The lone Kentucky specimen was from Henderson County (Map 212), but it is not likely to occur naturally in Kentucky (see comments below).

Comments: This specimen poses a bit of a conundrum. This species was thought to only occur in FL and GA, but in the last 10 years, some specimens have been documented as far north as coastal SC and as far west as Galveston County, TX. A specimen, labeled Henderson County, Kentucky, was collected 24 November 1943 and deposited in the INHSIC. Neither of its larval hosts (palms) occur naturally in Kentucky. Therefore , if it is assumed that the specimen was not mislabeled, the November collection date hints that it might have emerged from a palm brought up from the South that was stored indoors. Due to the age of the specimen, it is not likely that anyone alive would know .
