Distribution: NJ to south FL to eastern TX to KY. The lone Kentucky specimen of this southeastern species was taken in south-central Kentucky in 1894 (Southwestern Appalachians, Map 001).

Larval host plants: Pinus spp. and Quercus virginiana ( Monné & Nearns 2022d)

Chemical lures: A mixture of ethanol + α-pinene (D. R. Miller 2006), and even more attractive if the bark beetle lures ipsenol and ipsdienol are added to the mix (D. R. Miller et al. 2015)

Comments: Attracted to lights.
