Distribution: NS to the FL panhandle to eastern OK to northern MI. The lone Kentucky specimen was taken in the foothills of the Appalachians just east of Berea (Western Allegheny Plateau; Map 003).

Larval host plants: Pinus spp. ( Perry 1975)

Chemical lures: D. R. Miller, Crowe, C. M., Dodds, K. J., Galligan, L. D., de Groot, P., Hoebeke, E. R., Mayfield, A. E., Poland, T. M., Raffa, K. F., Sweeney, J. D. (2015) reported that a blend of ipsenol + ipsdienol + ethanol + α-pinene attracted Acmaeops proteus , but this blend showed no significant attractiveness to A. discoideus .

Comments: The Kentucky specimen was found crawling on a trap baited with α-pinene.
