Taxonomic note: This species was known as H. nebulosa Haldeman until it was synonymized under the current name (see Bousquet et al. 2017 for a discussion of the taxonomic history of this species). It is under the name H. nebulosa in identification guides published before 2017.

Distribution: Southern PQ to northern FL to LA to MO. The lone Kentucky record of this uncommonly collected species was collected in 2021 from just south of Cincinnati, OH ( Interior Plateau ; Map 075).

Larval host plants: Amelanchier canadensis , Castanea and Quercus ( Monné & Nearns 2022d)

Comments: Attracted to lights; however, MV lights may work better than blacklights ( Bousquet et al. 2017).
