Genus Cacyreus Butler View in CoL View at ENA
( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 E, F)
One species from this genus has recently been introduced in Europe: Cacyreus marshalli Butler. The egg has a reduced annular zone with smooth thin walled cells surrounded by various series of small transition cells. The tubercle-aeropyle region is formed by predominantly quadrangular and large cells with their intersections forming wide tubercles with aeropyles at their tips. The bottom of the cells shows an irregular spongy texture. The egg was described by Sarto & Masó (1991) using scanning electron microscope pictures.
