TYPE LOCALITY: Venezuela, Duida Range, Rio Casiquiare .

DISTRIBUTION: Venezuela, south of Rio Orinoco, south to Brazil north of Rios Negro and Amazon.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix II.

SYNONYMS: duruculi ; felinus Spix, 1823 ; humboldtii Schultz, 1823 ; rufus .

COMMENTS: Divided into 9 species by Hershkovitz (1983).
