Type locality. Bunaken , 12–14 km west of Manado, northern Palau Sulawesi (formerly Celebes Island), Indonesia .

Remarks. The male gnathopod 2 shows a range of development with growth stage figs 46–48 in material between 5.6 mm and 7.7 mm. Parelasmopus dancaui was a commonly sampled species at Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Individuals of this species were collected from Cocos (Keeling) Islands in 1979 and again in 2008.

Distribution. Indian Ocean. Indonesia, Suluwesi ( Ortiz & Lalana 1997); Cocos (Keeling) Islands (current study).
