Sergentia Kieffer, 1922 View in CoL
Watson et al. (1966) collected Sergentia coracina (Zetterstedt, 1850) as Phaenopsectra coracina in the Ogotoruk Valley. We collected Sergentia albescens ( Townes, 1945) adults from around Margaret Lake on Revillagigedo Island in late April. This is a new faunistic record for Alaska. We have collected Sergentia larvae from the Usuktuk River and streams and lakes in Southwest and Southeastern Alaska. Other reports of the larvae come from other lakes and streams in the Arctic Coastal Plain ( Arctos 2023). Kaufman et al. (2012) found Sergentia larvae to be quite abundant in a 4.7 m core taken in Lone Spruce Pond in Southwestern bioregion. Brundin (1949) described the habitat of S. coracina as a cold-stenotherm living in the littoral and profundal zones of northern subarctic lakes.
