When describing the new variety of Sempervivum heuffelii, Kitanov (1948: 200) cited quite precisely the collecting locality: “ Albania orientalis: in rupibus calcareis montis inter mt. Shebenikut et mt. Jablanica [East Albania: on limestone cliffs between Mt. Maja e Shebenikut and Mt. Jabllanica], 1880 m s. m. Planta florifera lecta 22.VIII 1947.” As Boris Kitanov is one of the eminent Bulgarian botanists, most of the material for vascular plants collected by him is deposited in the three main herbaria in Bulgaria: SO, SOM and SOA. However, we were not able to locate any material which could serve as nomenclatural type in these herbaria .
