Geographical distribution: United States in the Nearctic region to Trinidad & Tobago in the Neotropical region.

Material from Cuba: La Habana, 25.I.1932, P. J. Bermudez leg., 2 Ψ (KU) ( Truxal 1953). Habitat: springs, permanent and semipermanent ponds; Alayo (1967, 1974) reported that the species is not commonly captured in Cuba, but was collected in several localities on the island.
