Magnaporthaceae P.F. Cannon

Remarks.

The family Magnaporthaceae was introduced by Cannon (1994) and was placed as a family within the class Sordariomycetes ( Kirk et al. 2001; Lumbsch and Huhndorf 2007). According to Thongkantha et al. (2009), the placement of the taxa Magnaporthaceae has long been problematic due to a lack of convincing morphological characteristics and inconclusive molecular data. Thongkantha et al. (2009) established a new order, Magnaporthales , to accommodate Magnaporthaceae , based on a combination of morphological characteristics and the phylogenetic analysis of combined sequence data. Maharachchikumbura et al. (2015) provided an updated outline of the family Magnaporthacea e with 20 genera, which included both sexual and asexual morphs. In this study, Mycoleptodiscus endophyticus is introduced as a new species.
