Pseudolampetis View in CoL contains 13 species recorded from Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru. Since it was not discussed by Kurosawa (1993), yet recognized at the generic rank by Volkovitsh (2001) and therein related to Ectinogonia View in CoL and Achardella View in CoL , rather than Psiloptera View in CoL or Lampetis View in CoL , I concur that it should be kept as a valid genus rather than a subgenus of Lampetis View in CoL .

The species of Pseudolampetis View in CoL have no published biological data. Frank Hovore (pers. comm.) reported that for the two species of this group he has collected in Ecuador, those from coastal sites in Manabi and Guayas provinces were almost invariably beaten from leguminous trees (probably Mimosaceae : Acacia View in CoL or Prosopis spp. ), mostly from foliage of trees in bloom (small, round yellow blossoms), but also from foliage without flowers and from dead twigs. Larger specimens, and all material from montane sites (1,500 –2,000 m) in Loja Province came from herbaceous vegetation, but not necessarily legumes (although a few were taken beating dead Acacia View in CoL crowns). They seem to sit on foliage of a variety of shrubs and trees, and where an area had been scarred by heavy equipment, leaving only ripped stems and roots exposed in the muddy soils, they often were common on the ripped bits and stems, sometimes sitting on twigs smaller in diameter than themselves. Even when out in the full sun in mid-day they are sluggish and make little attempt to fly away when disturbed.

The placement of the genera discussed herein in the current higher classification scheme of Buprestidae is summarized in the following list adapted from Bellamy (2003). These taxa are the complete component of South American genera in what was formerly referred to as Chalcophorinae : Chalcophorini .
