4. Anaceratagallia (Anaceratagallia) karakolensis Dubovsky, 1984 View in CoL

Figs. 94–103 View FIGURES 94–117

Description. Only one series of specimens from southwestern Turkmenistan (environs of Kara-Kala = Garrygala) was investigated. Penis in side view comparatively narrow, ventral crest developed only in basal part, slightly serrated ( Figs. 94–98 View FIGURES 94–117 ). Male anal collar appendage blade-shaped, covered with minute spicules as in all other species of A. (A.) venosa group ( Figs. 99–101 View FIGURES 94–117 ).

On the drawing in the original description ( Dubovsky, 1984; reproduced as Figs. 102–103 View FIGURES 94–117 ) the ventral crest of the penis is somewhat more developed than in males from Turkmenistan, however these differences are not considered significant at the species level.

Biology. Type series was collected from sainfoin ( Onobrychis , Fabaceae ); apparently a commercial sainfoin planting.

Calling signal. Unknown.

Distribution. So far, this species is known only from the type locality in Northern Kyrgyzstan and from southwestern Turkmenistan.

Remarks. It was described based on one male and three females from the environs of Karakol Town, Eastern shore of the Issyk-Kul’ Lake, Kyrgyzstan.

Identification of A. (A.) karakolensis is somewhat doubtful, still, we prefer to use this name instead of describing the form from Turkmenistan as a new species.

According to the original description, Anaceratagallia perarmata Dlabola, 1958 from the Balkans is similar to A. (A.) karakolensis in penis shape ( Fig. 104 View FIGURES 94–117 ) but differs from it by the bifurcate anal collar appendage ( Fig. 105 View FIGURES 94–117 ). It is possible that these two taxa are conspecific, but investigation of material from the Balkans is necessary to confirm this synonymy.
