Diagnosis.

Wingspan: 11–12 mm.

Forewing: relatively broad.

Hindwing: termen slightly convex.

Underside: unicolorous light brown.

Abdomen: brown, without long anal tufts.

Male genitalia.

Saccus: short, rounded.

Vinculum: short.

Tegumen: long.

Tergite and sternite: indistinct.

Costa: almost straight.

Sacculus: narrow, short.

Ampulla: slightly asymmetrical, ovoid, apically smoothly rounded.

Pollex : short and heavily fused to clasper, with long hair-like setae.

Digitus: asymmetrical; relatively short, bent; right digitus much longer and stouter than left one.

Juxta: higher than wide.

Anellus: dorsally fused with juxta.

Phallus: long and narrow, broadest by ductus ejaculatorius, slightly tapered, bent at 2/3; coecum relatively long and rounded apically.

Female genitalia.

Ovipositor: quadrangular.

Anterior apophyses: shorter than posterior apophyses.

8 th abdominal segment: very narrow, ventrally fused with the 7 th segment.

7 th abdominal segment: heavily sclerotised; position of ostium slightly posterior to middle of segment; without processes or pouches.

6 th segment: posterior part of segment heavily sclerotised and fused with 7 th segment; other part of 6 th segment less heavily sclerotised – similar to rest of abdomen.

Antrum: short, tapered, slightly longer than wide.

Ductus bursae: membranous, 1½ X as long as corpus bursae.

Appendix bursae: arises at posterior end of ductus bursae.

Corpus bursae: relatively large and globular.

Differential diagnosis.

The male genitalia of D. arborita are similar to those of D. javai , D. hackeri , and D. thailandi but differ in having a less rounded ampulla; that of D. thailandi is slightly more elongated; the left and right digiti of D. arborita are longer than those of D. javai and D. thailandi , but smaller than those of D. hackeri . The angle of the bend of the phallus is slightly wider than 100°, like that of D. hackeri , whereas those of the two others are 95° and 100° degrees, respectively. In the female genitalia the antrum is slightly longer than that of D. javai ; those of D. tegali , D. paulum , and D. thailandi have much longer antra.
