Audreia quadrimaculata sp. nov.

Measurements (mm). Holotype male: total length 19.0; length of pronotum 5.0, width of pronotum 7.0, length of tegmen 7.0, width of tegmen 4.5. Paratype females (2): total length 21.0 and 18.0, length of pronotum 5.5 and 5.0, width of pronotum 7.0 and 6.5, length of tegmen 6.0, width of tegmen 5.0.

General coloration brown. Head with four parallel dark-brown spots in interocular space; eyes dark ( Fig. 1 ); antennae and palpi golden-tomentose. Pronotum with dark-brown spots covering entire surface ( Fig. 2 ).

Head with exposed vertex under pronotum in dorsal view; interocular space ample, subequal in size to distance between bases of antennal sockets; eyes small, placed lateral-apically; ocelli rounded, adjacent to inner margin of the antennal sockets; antennae relatively short, not reaching past middle of abdomen; maxillary palpi tomentose, third segment larger than fourth, which is dilated at apex; fifth segment dilated and larger than others.

Thorax elliptical, pronotum convex and transverse, with deflected lateral margins, rounded apex and slightly angular base. Spiny legs, cephalic femora with anteroventral margin having five robust, well-spaced spines extending to the middle, followed by a dense row of 18 small spines extending to the apex, which bears two robust apical spines (type B2), the last of which is twice as long as the previous one; posteroventral margin with four widely spaced spines, one of them apical; middle and posterior femora with the ventral face bearing four robust, well-spaced spines; pulvilli and arolium present; claws symmetrical, simple. Tegmen reduced, not reaching middle of abdomen.

Abdomen with rounded supra-anal plate with slight median indentation between the cerci ( Fig. 3 ). Subgenital plate asymmetrical and rounded, with small styles inserted on and next to apex ( Fig. 4 ); left phallomere with sclerotized median structure ( Fig. 5 ); median sclerite apically rounded ( Figs. 6, 7 ); right phallomere with apex rounded ( Fig. 8 ).

Type material. Holotype male, Brazil, Espírito Santo, Santa Teresa, Santa Lúcia Biological Station, 17.IV.2008, Janira Martins Costa, Sueli Maria Pereira and César Carriço, colls. Paratypes, 2 females, same data as holotype.

Etymology. The name of the species derives from the four dark brown parallel spots in the interocular space.

Comment. This species differs from all other known Audreia spp. in the coloration of the head, which has four parallel dark-brown spots on the interocular space, and in the genitalia, which have an apically rounded median sclerite and apically rounded right phallomere.
