Amorbia nuptana View in CoL ; Powell et al. 1995, Atlas of Neotropical Lepid., part 2: 148.

DIAGNOSIS. Amorbia nuptana can be distinguished from other members of the Colubrana Group by the presence of a shallow dorsal pit on the second abdominal segment. In forewing color and size, A. nuptana is most similar to A. cacao ; however, males of A. nuptana can be distinguished by having modified yellowish scales in the HW anal area and the transtilla pointed anteriorly. Females of A. nuptana can be distinguished by the yellowish HW with darker scales scattered over the anal area.

REDESCRIPTION. MALE. FW length 11.2–12.5 mm (mean = 12.1; n = 14). HEAD: Frons concave, naked, vertex scaling in two groups, brown. Antenna with brown scaling. Labial palpus dark brown laterally, inner surface paler. THORAX: Dorsum smooth scaled, brown; tegula concolorous. FW golden brown with subbasal and median fascia and termen hazel brown. Costal fold 0.33 length of costa, ca. 0.33 as wide as the length of the fold. Sc slightly enlarged in basal 0.5, enlarged portion bearing a row of asymmetrically bifurcated spines. HW brownish with curved yellow scales in anal area. ABDOMEN: Brown; dorsal pit present as a shallow indentation. Genitalia as in Fig 79 (slide # 1965434, INBio, Costa Rica, Guanacaste, Estación Pitilla; n = 4). Uncus well developed, tip spatulate distally. Struts of socii present. Transtilla rectangular, pointed at middle anteriorly. Sacculus sclerotized, ca. 0.5X length of valva, emarginate in middle. Aedeagus 0.7X length of valva, slightly and evenly curved throughout .

FEMALE. FW length 14.4–14.6 mm (mean = 14.5, n = 4). HEAD and THORAX: As described for male except HW yellowish with darker scales scattered over the anal area. Some specimens with a darker spot in center of FW. ABDOMEN: Genitalia as in Fig. 102 (slide # MCC6 INBio, Costa Rica, Puntarenas, Estación Biológica Las Alturas; n = 1). Pockets of lamella antevaginalis triangular, rounded anteriorly; median sinus subtriangular. Ductus bursae with sclerotized boot-shaped region in posterior 0.2 .
