Archiv für Hydrobiologie 80: 177 ( Kovácik 1988). — Basionym: Myxosarcina burmensis Skuja, Zur Süsswasseralgenflora Burmas 21, t. 1, f. 12 ( Skuja1949).

DESCRIPTION. — Cells more or less angular with rounded corners, almost arranged in transverse and vertical series, pale blue-green or olive-green, homogenous or finely granular; sheath very thin, mucilaginous, hyaline; colonies when young 4 cells ( Fig. 8C View FIG ).

DIMENSION. — Cells 2.0-3.5 µm in diameter.

ENVIRONMENT & HABITAT. — Freshwater species; free-floating in water bodies; temperature 2.5°C.
