Etymology. The specific name refers to the Vila de Mariuá, built by the Manaus Indians at the right margin of the Negro River, that later became the city of Barcelos; noun in apposition.

Diagnosis. Males of N. mariua sp. nov. resemble those of N. carare sp. nov. ( Figs 16−18 View FIGURES 16–18 ) and N. tawu sp. nov. ( Figs 106−108 View FIGURES 106–111 ) by the palps with E roughly straight and tegulum lacking RdP ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 59–64 ). They are distinguished from N. carare sp. nov. by the dRTA bifid, with two pointed branches and triangular protrusion close to bp ( Figs 60−61 View FIGURES 59–64 ) (dRTA distally truncated and tegulum lacking small triangular protrusion close to bp in N. carare sp. nov.) and from N. tawu sp. nov. by the bp keel-like, wider than long and dRTA with ventral branch straight in retrolateral view ( Figs 60-61 View FIGURES 59–64 ) (bp irregular-shaped, slightly longer than wide and dRTA with ventral branch hook-shaped in retrolateral view in N. tawu sp. nov.). Females resemble those of N. tawu sp. nov. ( Figs 109−111 View FIGURES 106–111 ) by the LL fused medially with pair of anterior COd bearing posterior CO and large, posterior MS. They are distinguished by the MS trapezoid, as long as wide and fused part of LL as long as anterior COd ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 59–64 ) (MS rectangular, wider than long and fused part of LL shorter than anterior COd in the latter species).

Opisthosoma brownish gray; dorsally with pair of rounded brown muscle impressions; ventrally with two parallel lines of muscle impressions.
