Alpheus euphrosyne De Man, 1897 View in CoL
Alpheus euphrosyne De Man, 1897: 745 View in CoL , fig. 64a–d. Banner & Banner, 1966b: 130, fig. 49.
Alpheus eurydactylus De Man, 1920:109 View in CoL ; 1924: 48, fig. 17.
Material examined. PG: 1 male ( ZUTC 6711 ), Bandar-Mahshar, muddy, Coll. A. Dehghani, 10 Nov. 2016 ; GO: 2 males, 2 ovig. females ( ZUTC 6712 ), Gwatr Bay , muddy, Coll. A. Sari and A. Dehghani, 2 Dec. 2016 .
Distribution. Indian Ocean: PG, GO, Indonesia and Thailand.
Regional records. PG: Iran ( Banner & Banner 1981), Kuwait ( Jones 1986); GO: Iran (present study).
Habitat. Muddy estuarine and mangroves.
Remark. Jones (1986) recorded this species from Kuwait in the form of one large specimen (TL 68 mm). Our material shows characters similar to what Jones (1986) described: 1) Presence of tufts of setae at the base of the post-rostral spine of carapace, which become scattered posteriorly, 2) Fingers and thumbs of second chela shorter than palm. This species is similar to A. lobidens but easily recognized by the spatulate dactylus of third pereiopods.
