Conservation: IUCN: Not Evaluated, PC: Critically Endangered B2ab(iii). This species is only found in the lower parts of the Zayandehrud River. After the construction of a dam on this river, the lower parts and the Gavkhuni Marsh dried completely. The last individuals of this species are only found in a “pond” like environment around Varzaneh Bridge. Considering that the few individuals of this species are found only in one locality and its total occupancy is lower than 10 km 2, we classified it as Critically Endangered.
