Taxonomy.
Conservation: IUCN: Not Evaluated, PC: Near Threatened B1b(i,ii)+2b(i,ii). This species is endemic to Esfahan basin where it is only known from Zayandehrud and Khorbeh River. In recent years due to the severe drought affecting the region, the Zayandehrud River is completely dry after the Chadegan dam. Even when the dam is open, the salinity of the water reaching the middle and downstream parts of the river is very high and impede this species to survive. Upper parts of the mentioned river are highly affected by the extraction of water for agricultural use and industrial contamination. However, future declines in population size are possible but uncertain. Also, The effects of drought on this species are not clear. Therefore, we classified it as Near Threatened B1b(i,ii)+2b(i,ii).
