Syntypes: NMW 55926 (1), 55928 (2), 55935–37 (2, 2, 1), 55939–42 (4, 1, 3, 1);?RMNH 3164 [ex NMW] (1) Aleppo; SMF 923 [ex NMW in 1843] (1), 2567 [ex NMW in 1844] (1); ZMB 8789 (1, dry).
Capoeta barroisi persica Karaman [M. S.] 1969: 35; Type locality: Mariwan, 120 km west of Sannadaj , Tigris River drainage, Iran. Holotype (unique): ZMH H4119 View Materials .
Common name: Pr: Siyah mahi bale boland, Siyah mahi khar dar, En: Long spine scraper.
Diagnosis: Small scales, transverse mouth, very strong ossified last unbranched dorsal fin ray which longer than head length, head and body and the dorsal fin are covered with small, distinctive black spots.
Meristic characters: D: III–IV 7–9 (8), A: III 5, P: 14–18 (16), V: 8–10 (8), GR: 21–31, LL: 65–82, TV: 43–46.
Distribution: Tigris basin ( Fig. 94). Populations of this species are found in Gamasiab, Dinevar, Qarasu, Kashkan, Razavar, Seymareh, Karkheh, Karun, Gaverud, Sirvan, Little Zab and Fahilan Rivers.
Taxonomy: Coad (1991) placed in Capoeta .
Conservation: IUCN: Least Concern ( Freyhof 2014g).
