Cyprinion kais Heckel View in CoL [J. J.] 1843: 1066 [76]; Type locality: Aleppo, Syria and Mosul, Iraq. Lectotype: NMW 52803 (148.1 mm). Paralectotypes: NMW 52801–03 (3, 2, 1 of 2);?RMNH 2485 [ex NMW] (2),?2489 (1); SMF 134 [ex NMW in 1844] (1).

Cyprinion cypris Heckel [J. J.] 1843: 1067 [77]; Type locality: Tigris River, Mossul, Iraq. Syntypes: NMW 52800 (1), 52804 (10), 59508 (1, dry); SMF 849 [ex NMW in 1844] (1).

Common name: Pr: Butak-e dehan kuchek, Lotak– e dahan kochal, Zanboor, En: Smallmouth lotak.

Diagnosis: Mouth shape is distinctive. It is small and semicircular with a width about the size of the eye diameter and has large lower lips.

Meristic characters: D: IV 12–15, A: III 7, P: 14–18, V: 8–9, GR: 10–15, LL: 38–39, TV: 37–40.

Distribution: Tigris and maybe in Persis basin

( Fig. 106). Found in Seymareh, Karun, Sirvan, Dez and

Zemkan Rivers. Taxonomy: Correct type locality is unknown. Conservation: IUCN: Least Concern ( Freyhof

2014l).
