Type species. Cicada proponens Walker, 1858c ( Brazil) .

Remarks. The new species described here are the first records of the genus in Argentina. The genus has now been recorded from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela ( Metcalf 1963c; Sanborn 2007a; 2010a; 2013).
