Additional material examined. We examined 63 specimens that are definitively assigned to T. hircus . The number of individuals for each locality is given within brackets.

Diagnosis. The species can be easily distinguished from the other Oriental species by the metasternum entirely punctate.

Distribution. China, India, Sri Lanka, Union of Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Philippines.

Remarks. The species was described by Wiedemann in the genus Copris , then was transferred to the Drepanocerus genus by Harold (1869). Later, Krikken (2009) included it in the genus Tibiodrepanus .
