Pap[ilio] Eq[ues] Troj[anus] polytes, Cramer, 1780a: 129 , 176, pl.265, figs A, B, C [original plate 235, figs A, A, B]. China; Java; Côte de Coromandel.

Papilio Eques View in CoL Achivus polytes, Stoll, 1782b: 3 [No. 12].

Material examined. 1 ♀, with van Lennep label ‘ No. 12. POLYTES . Cr. III. 265. A. B. C. ’ ( BMNH (E)#665049) is a good match for original plate 235, figs A, A, although the forewing is more contrastingly coloured; there is some damage to the thorax and it may originally have been set as an underside .
