PYRENE LINNAEUS OF CRAMER, 1777 View in CoL

Pap[ilio] Dan[aus] Cand[idus] pyrene, Cramer, 1777: 41 , 150, pl.125, figs A, B, C [original plates 88A, A and pl. 89, fig. B]. ‘Je lai reçu tous les deux de la Chine’; ‘trouve aussi à la Côte de Coromandel, à Tranquebar’ [I received both of these from China; also found at Tranquebar on the south-eastern coast of India].

Material examined. 1 ♂, with van Lennep label ‘ No. 3 PYRENE Cr. II. 125. A. B. C. ’ ( BMNH (E)#665063)

resembles original plate 89, fig. B; there is a little thoracic damage but no clear sign that the pin has been replaced.
