HERSILIA CRAMER, 1777

Pap[ilio] Dan[aus] Cand[idus] hersilia Cramer, 1777: 117 , 149, pl.173, figs C, D [original plate 149, figs B, B], ♀, Surinam (males stated to be no different in colour). Stated by Bridges (1988) to be preoccupied by Papilio hersilia Fabricius, 1777 , but the order in which these publications appeared needs to be confirmed [see remarks under Papilio remus Cramer. ]

Material examined. No potential Cramer specimens located.

Current status. Lamas (2004b) treats it as an invalid senior subjective synonym of Phoebis argante larra

(Fabricius, 1798), and junior homonym of Papilio hersilia Fabricius, 1776 .
