Papilio Danaus Candidus egialea, Stoll, 1782b: 5 [No. 37], states that Linnaeus had already named this species Papilio pasithoe .

Material examined. Possible syntype ♀ ( BMNH (E)#665087), with Felder label ‘ Coll. Lenep’ ( BMNH (E)#665087) has the upperside with hindwings pale basally and is not a very good match for original plate 155, figs C, C; it has been re-pinned. 1 ♀ ( BMNH (E)#665086) with Felder label ‘ Java Cll v der Capellen’ is quite a good match for original plate 155, figs C, C, but with slightly different arrangement of submarginal whitish spots; it has also been re-pinned and the left hindwing has been repaired. One possibility is that the labels on these two specimens have been switched. 1 ♂ with van Lennep label ‘ No. 37 AEGIALEA [sic] Cr.II. 189. D. E. & III. 258. E. F.’ ( BMNH (E)#665083) is quite a good match with original plate 228, figs B, B; it has been re-pinned. 1 ♂ with Felder label ‘ Coll Lenep’ ( BMNH (E)#665084) is slightly less good; it has also been re-pinned .

Current status. Valid subspecies of Delias pasithoe ( Linnaeus, 1767) ( Yagishita et al., 1993) .
