Calvariopsis fourgassiense sp. nov.
( Figs 1C View FIGURE 1 , 11 View FIGURE 11 )
Type material. Holotype, male ( MNHG): “ Guyane Francaise \ Montagne Kaw \ Fourgassié \ 15.9.– 1.10.1995 \ M. Kocian lgt.” . Paratype, male ( MNHG): same data as holotype .
Diagnosis. Small (TL 2.3 mm), dark brown, with rounded sides of elytra, externally resembling some group II species of Calvariopsis gen. nov. Penis very long and narrow, strongly narrowed in its middle, apical plate of tergite VIII with M-shaped, shallowly notched median process and distinct denticles in lateral portions. Genitalia similar to C. borowieci sp. nov., but median process of tergite VIII is distinctly shorter and more weakly developed than in C. borowieci sp. nov.
Description. Male. Body oval, convex, covered with brown, suberect setae. Head brown with yellowish frons and clypeus, pronotum and elytra dark brown, venter brown, legs yellowish-brown, antennae yellowish. Head very broad, 1.8× wider than width of interocular space, with distinct but fine punctation, punctures small, granulate, separated by 3.0× diameter of a puncture, eyes moderately large, not protuberant. Pronotum transverse, widest at its base. Disc of pronotum with fine, granulate punctation, punctures separated by 2.0–3.0× diameter of a puncture. Posterior margin of pronotum subtly bisinuate. Anterior angles protruding anteriorly, subtriangular, posterior angles obtuse. Scutellar shield subtriangular, covered with subtle punctation. Elytra oblong, without traces of longitudinal ridges, widest in the middle of their length, sides curved, regularly converging to apex in posterior 1/3. Humeri well marked. Punctation stronger than on pronotum, punctures elongate, distance between punctures ca. the diameter of a puncture.
Male genitalia. Penis (L 0.86 mm, W 0.07 mm, Figs 11 View FIGURE 11 A–B) very long and narrow, widest in basal half, wid- ened also in apical portion, parameroids short, narrow, curved, trigonium subtriangular, narrow, pointed at apex. Tegmen (L 0.61 mm, W 0.17 mm, Fig. 11C View FIGURE 11 ) very long, sides diverging, apex with short lateral lobes, covered with setae. Sternite IX (L 0.29 mm, W 0.21 mm, Fig. 11D View FIGURE 11 ) subrectangular, with paired apodemes, apical margin rounded, apical portion covered with short, sparse setae. Tergite VIII (L 0.35 mm, W 0.33 mm, Fig. 11E View FIGURE 11 ) with short apical plate, central portion of apical plate produced, with small notch at apex, lateral portions of apical margin with a few denticles in mesal part, apodemes distinctly longer than apical plate, diverging. Tergite IX (L 0.38 mm, W 0.25 mm, Fig. 11F View FIGURE 11 ) with membranous apical plate, apodemes longer than apical plate.
Female. Unknown.
Variability. Paratype has a small, orange spot along adsutural portion in central part of elytra.
Measurements and ratios. Males (n = 2) TL 2.27–2.30 (2.28) mm, PL 0.47–0.50 (0.48) mm, PW 1.03–1.07 (1.05) mm, EL 1.83–1.93 (1.88) mm, EW 1.47–1.50 (1.48) mm, TL/EW 1.53–1.55 (1.54), PW/PL 2.07–2.29 (2.18), EL/EW 1.22–1.32 (1.27), EL/PL 3.67–4.14 (3.90).
