NOTES: In the original description of this species, Lister (1897: 209) wrote “was obtained in considerable abundance in Wanstead Park, Essex, in September, 1896”, leaving no doubt as to the identity of the material designated as the lectotype by Kowalski. Specimen BM 1699 is from the same locality and could have been considered as an isolectotype. However in notebook XII: 1–5, there is the following comment “as mentioned in Notes XI p. 134 we found [ Badhamia verna ] foliicola on Sep 13 under Sycamores in Wanstead Park on dead leaves of sycamore & Spanish chestnut, we visited this place several times during the following week and found more and filled five Boxes 1699, 1700, 1701, 1702, 1703.”, so these different samples should be considered syntypes. In BM we found BM1699 and BM1701 . In box BM 1699 there are three card layers with samples, the bottom two on leaves are the syntype, the top one has two different samples on twigs and grass from later dates and other localities, that are not type material.
