[BM] 4060 / Dianema repens /G. Lister & Cran/ Westhill, near Aberdeen. Dec. 1912./ leg. Rev. W. Cran/ BM001089748 [sheet label dated 3 FEB. 1927: “ Type specimen”]. BM s.n. one slide 1/ Dianema / repens GL / Porlock 12.20/ NGH/ NXLI.16/ BM001089138.

NOTES: In the description of the species Lister (1925: 255) commented“… has been found on hepatics and lichen on living trees in two localities: in Aberdeenshire by the Rev. W. Cran in November 1912, and near Porlock, Somerset, by Mr. N. G. Hadden in December 1920.”. In BM we found one box ( BM 4060 ) labelled “Type collection”, with material from Aberdeen collected by Rev. W. Cran but in December 1912 instead of November. However we believe it is material studied by G.Lister and it is in good condition, so we designate it as the lectotype. There is also a slide from Porlock, with reference to notebook XLI: 16 where the material is illustrated and commented upon, so we consider it to be a syntype. In K 177872 and K 177873 there is material from England?, 1912, anon., that may be duplicates .
