NOTES: Lister & G. Lister (1904) comments that “this form appeared in great abundance near Llan-y-Mawddwy, N.

Wales, in the years 1895 and 1898”. In BM we found two boxes ( BM 1540 and BM 1535 ) with material from Wales and the same date as given in the publication. We consider them to be syntypes since Ing (1982) lectotypified sample

BM1704 that we did not find. Ing (1982: 443) raised the rank of this variety to species but since the name Craterium globosum (Schwein.) Fr. is in use he gave a new name, Craterium muscorum Ing.
