Genus Piciformobia Gaud & Atyeo, 1975
Type species: Piciformobia tetracanthura Gaud & Atyeo, 1975 , by original designation.
The genus Piciformobia is currently composed of six species, including the new one described below, occurring on birds of the families Cuculidae , Galbulidae and Troglodytidae in the New World ( Gaud & Atyeo 1975, Alzuet et al. 1988, Mironov et al. 2014): P. ani ( Černý, 1975) from Crotophaga ani Linnaeus, 1758 , P. guirae Alzuet et al., 1988 from Guira guira (Gmelin, 1788) ( Cuculiformes : Cuculidae ), P. tetracanthura Gaud & Atyeo, 1975 from Galbula cyanescens Deville, 1849 ( Galbuliformes : Galbulidae ), P. henicorhinae Mironov et al., 2014 from Henicorhina leucosticta (Cabanis, 1847) , and P. cinnycerthiae Mironov et al., 2014 from Cinnycerthia unirufa (Lafresnaye, 1840) ( Passeriformes : Troglodytidae ). The new mite described herein represents the second species of this genus living on the Guira Cuckoo , G. guira .
