Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Lophius budegassa View in CoL by Aguillar et al. (2018: 81). Recent unpublished records from Tyre ( 2016–2018) and Tripoli ( 26 June 2008). Material in collection: AUBM ( OS3650 ) .

Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea, eastern Atlantic: western Baltic Sea, North Sea and British Isles south to Senegal.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (DD: 11 July 2014); Med. ( LC: 16 November 2007). Capture and threats: FIT, FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Rare. Medium priority for conservation action .
