Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, eastern Atlantic: Spain south to South Africa; southwestern Indian Ocean: South Africa north to Mozambique.

Conservation. IUCN: Global (DD: 2 February 2006); Med. (CR: A2c, 25 March 2016). Capture and threats: FIB, unknown. Occurrence: Rare. Significant decline in the last two decades.Medium priority for conservation action.
