Type Locality: Australia, New South Wales, Liverpool Plains.
Vernacular Names: Western Quoll.
Synonyms: Dasyurus fortis Thomas 1906 .
Distribution: Western Australia; formerly in South Australia, Northern Territory, S Queensland, W New South Wales, and NW Victoria (Archer, in Tyler, 1979; Waithman, 1979).
Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable. Rare.
Discussion: Formerly included in Dasyurinus . The New Guinea records of this species actually refer to D. spartacus .
