Specimens measured. BA, CE, PE, SE (5, 2, 5, 1).

Dorsal shield of female areolate, except for a smooth band at level of Z4 and on the posterolateral area; anterolateral margins striate; 340 (320–382) long and 197 (165–220) wide. Setal lengths: j1 27 (20–30), j3 31 (27–35), j4 14 (12–16), j5 14 (12–16), j6 17 (15–19), J2 17 (15–22), J5 8 (7–10), z2 22 (17–25), z4 27 (22–30), z5 14 (12–17), Z1 22 (17–25), Z4 43 (37–47), Z5 62 (57–68), s4 40 (35–45), S2 28 (25–32), S4 23 (20–26), S5 11 (10–15), r3 18 (15–20) and R1 16 (12–20). Peritreme extending to level of j1. Distances between st1–st3 65 (56–72), st2–st2 63 (60–67), st5–st5 72 (68–78). Ventrianal shield 113 (106–135) long, 69 (63–78) wide at level of Zv2 and 64 (59–80) at anus level. Spermathecal calyx tubular, 19 (11–23) long; atrium nodular. Fixed cheliceral digit 30 (29–32) long, with 9–10 teeth; movable digit 33 (31–36) long, with three teeth. Macrosetae on legs I–IV, sharp-tipped, except SgeIV and StIV, slightly capitate; SgeI 12 (10–18), SgeII 15 (12–18), SgeIII 24 (15–27), SgeIV 41 (35–45), StiIII 16 (15–18), StiIV 15 (12–20) and StIV 58 (45–65) .

Acre ( Nuvoloni et al., 2015b), Alagoas ( Fiaboe et al., 2007; Silva et al., 2016), Amazonas ( Ferreira et al., 2018), Bahia ( Fiaboe et al., 2007; Oliveira et al., 2007; Souza et al., 2012, 2015; Nuvoloni et al., 2015a), Ceará ( Barros et al., 2020), Goiás ( Demite et al., 2017), Mato Grosso ( Demite et al., 2009), Paraíba ( Furtado et al., 2005; Fiaboe et al., 2007), Pernambuco ( Moraes et al., 1993; Barbosa et al., 2003; Rosa et al., 2005; Vasconcelos et al., 2006; Fiaboe et al., 2007; Furtado et al., 2007; Melo et al., 2023), Rio de Janeiro ( Collier et al., 2004), Rio Grande do Norte ( Furtado et al., 2005), Rio Grande do Sul ( Silva et al., 2020), São Paulo ( Zacarias & Moraes, 2001a; Buosi et al., 2006; Feres et al., 2007; Castro & Moraes, 2010; Moraes et al., 2013), Sergipe ( Fiaboe et al., 2007) and Tocantins ( Cruz et al., 2012; Cañarte et al., 2020).

Distribution elsewhere. Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Hawaii, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Puerto Rico, Suriname, USA and Venezuela.

Remarks. Muma & Denmark (1962) pointed out the high variability in setal length, shape of ventrianal shield and leg macrosetae. However, these variations were not observed in this study. The measurements of the specimens examined in this study were similar to those reported by McMurtry (1983) for two type specimens, except StIV, approximately 1.3 times longer in the type specimens.
