Distribution
W Europe through Turkey and S Asiatic Russia to Himalayas, Thailand and China, north to Korea; Taiwan; S England; N Africa; most islands in Mediterranean.
Distribution in Lao PDR ( Fig. 63 View FIG ): Houaphan Province: Ban Buaphath, Nam Et NBCA (ROM collection); Nam Chong, Nam Et NBCA (EBD collection); Khammouan Province: Pha Deng (ROM collection).
Taxonomic note
Genetic analyses indicate that Asian forms referred to this species are distinct from the European
species, but the appropriate name for the form in Lao PDR has not yet been determined.
